Diahann Carroll was an African American Actress, Singer and Model active from her first Televison show in 1952. Her last film in 2018. She is known to be the first black woman to star in a non-servant role. Best known for her role as Julia Baker in the comedy that aired from 1968-1971 which earned her an Academy Award Nomination. She is also the first Black woman to win a Tony Award in “No string” in the year 1962.
She passed away on October 4th 2019 at 84 from Breast Cancer.
